In English as
a Second Language, the children learn to speak and write in English. They learn correct sentence structure and
grammar. We practice speaking and
learning new vocabulary. It is amazing
how fast children learn to speak with their peers and teachers. It’s even more amazing how much they
understand without speaking the language itself.
Through the
Accelerated Reading program elementary teachers with children who are in need
of additional instruction in Reading are provided with extra resources. Additional instruction is given in the areas
of phonemic awareness, reading fluency, and reading comprehension. Teachers send students to the Learning
Center for one-on-one instruction. This
is a wonderful program for children that need extra tutoring.
